I’ve been sewing to prepare for this fantastic show that my little ladies and I will be vending tomorrow (in Columbus, Ohio).

I will be closing my shop first thing in the morning to take all of my critters to Craftin’ Outlaws. If you’ve had your eye on a plush…..it may not make it back into the online shop on Sunday (5orangepotatoes.etsy.com).

It’s the time of year for super soft and huggable bunnies that are made from cahmere sweaters and vintage fabric.

Robin challenged me to make an arctic fox from a soft angora sweater and I felt the need to make some raccoons for my woodland collection.

The bunnies will be in the Etsy shop this week. Like my 5 Orange Potatoes facebook page to receive updated listings and sales.

 I have more shows lined up through November which will be keeping me very busy plus the Etsy shop is keeping me on my toes with sales and new listings. I hope to blog periodically but just can’t make it the priority in my life right now plus homeschool my little ladies (they are involved in a lot of extra-curricular activities this year too, so I seem to be driving them here and there a lot).  I also had a publisher contact me about submitting some projects for some upcoming books which is consuming a lot of my time.

I’m sure not planning to leave this little space, but we all know how life is and there just isn’t enough hours in the day. Posting for ”Outdoor Mondays” will be put on hold until after the holiday season; still get those kids outside though!

Lately, I’ve been lacking in creativity in the sewing department. I hadn’t sewn a single thing for about a month until yesterday when the creativity hit me- a happy little hedgehog named Hildegard. I was up until 2:30 last night working on her and thought I would share a little sneak peek of Hildegard tonight.  Now, I took this photo this morning and she has changed a lot since then- she now also has ears and freckles. I love her, she’s my favorite critter so far! More to come on Hildegard later.

My Garden

Did a little weeding and planting today in our front garden. Here are some favorite things-

I have a thing for scented geraniums. I just love all the different varieties there are! This one below is an old fashioned rose scent, I like to add the leaves to sugar for a subtle rose taste. HA! I plan on making rose geranium jelly this summer as well!

Our front garden is starting to bloom- iris and catmint and a lot of buds on the fairy rose.

I have all kinds of different thymes growing in my garden. This one is new to me, it’s called Orange Spice, I bought it in Virginia last weekend. It will make a great tasting tea or a tangy kick to lemonade.

Now, to get outside and go frog hunting with the little ladies and then finish Hildegard.
