only wishing that I was a kid again where I could make a crazy face when things were “weird,”

or plug my ears to keep the sounds of life out!

Over the holidays she opened an Etsy shop called Half Past a Freckle. Please have a visit to see the great items she has found to share. She also has a facebook page where she shares special sales from time to time.

She requested a homemade carrot cake for her celebration; so a carrot cake is what she got, with the most fattening cream cheese frosting on the planet! I had to work out a little bit harder after eating a piece of this cake!

Now today, being 7 and all, she did a little modeling for me (for the etsy shop).

So sweet this little 7 year old is!

Until her 8yo sister enters the picture, then the sweetness goes out the door!

Now she is sassy and 7!

Denali usually loves the snow-

But, today he was protesting. If you’ve ever heard a husky speak, you know how they like to protest! I know this guy thinks I’m a total nag, he “back-talks” me the most in the family. I don’t think he likes the sound of my voice. Too funny, I’m sure Dave can relate at times!

The little ladies, however, love the snow! It was hard to get them inside….until they heard there was a big cuppa hot cocoa waiting!

The neighborhood coyote pack have been quite the hunters in our back field for the last few days.  I think they are having a hard time finding food right now and I don’t think they care very much for the snow! (Sorry, no coyotes in the picture, they were a little shy and I need a telephoto lens).

 I hope everyone is enjoying their weather right now!

The rest of my day was cooking like a mad woman- homemade breads, huge garden salad, and cooked apples. A bland diet is in order because we have been dealing with Fauna and her citrus allergy. This time of year she seems to overdo it with oranges by eating a lot of them. Citric overload for her means a very emotional little girl (cries over every little thing), itchy skin, phlegm buildup, sinus issues, and finally low grade fevers. Not a pretty thing at all. I tell her only one a day, but she sneaks them like an addict. She doesn’t really seem to understand that the foods we eat can cause harm to our systems; even the foods that are good for us. Now, however, after the difficulties of the last few days, I think she is starting to understand this a little more.  So sad to hear her say, “Mommy, why do the foods you love the most cause you the most harm?” Then Dave yells in the background, “moderation is the key Fauna!”  Time for a basic bland diet for her until she is free and clear of the many oranges that have abused her poor little body. HOPEFULLY, she will remember this next year when oranges are in season!

While I was cooking, Charm (top photo) and Pixie (bottom) were lounging and watching the birds at the bird feeder! Oh, the life of a cat!

Tomorrow my sewing machine is on the schedule. I’m starting to get a better understanding of this machine; it will help with the future softies I have doodled on paper right now.

Now signing off to work on a heart and pom pom garland for my Great Aunt’s 100th birthday party. Good evening/morning all!
