I LOVE cardboard! It’s very hard for me to throw it into the recycle bin. This bunny book is an exact copy of a cardboard book I saw in Target for $6. I couldn’t believe the price of it! No kidding, the book was made the same way I made this one here- recycled Annies’ brand box, small metal rings and paper…..$6 is crazy to me when you can make it for pennies at home! AND it’s such a great way to reuse cardboard!

What you need: cardboard from boxes found at the food store, yarn or metal rings (the smaller the better, depends on how thick you want the book to be), paper, scissors, and a hole punch. Making the book is pretty straightforward- cut, punch holes, stack and clip. It’s pretty easy.

We make our cardboard books in all shapes and sizes for all different reasons. The Little Ladies love making books and I find they enjoy writing more in these little books! Here, I added notebook paper to my “creative” book; it’s a place where I write ideas, doodle felty patterens and write anything I’m afraid of forgetting. Araina’s book (top right) is about our sunflower garden with a diagram of the garden, pictures of the flowers, how to grow them and seed packets in tow. Fauna’s book (rectangular, manila paper) is a multiplication book (bound with yarn) where she wrote some multiplication facts.

The metal rings can be found in office and educational supply stores. Enjoy!
