We are so lucky to have an amazing art gallery for the children in our area (K12). The little ladies take weekly art lessons there and they really seem to love it! Such creative and wonderful things are always being created there….by children.
This flower breathing dragon is my favorite!
I just love this dress made of tissues!
This work is titled, “The Neverending Cup of Coffee;” I have so many days like this.
And my favorite mixed media work of art in the studio reminds me of the Hindu Goddess Sita.
And of course my little artists-
“What are you looking at?”
I’ve been busy sewing lately with new critters in the works.
It’s the time of year for super soft and huggable bunnies that are made from cahmere sweaters and vintage fabric.
Robin challenged me to make an arctic fox from a soft angora sweater and I felt the need to make some raccoons for my woodland collection.
The bunnies will be in the Etsy shop this week. Like my 5 Orange Potatoes facebook page to receive updated listings and sales.

Fauna has always been good at balance- she walked at 9 months, learned to 2 wheel in only a matter of minutes, the pogo stick was a piece of cake, and now her newest balance challenge- the unicycle.
She uses Darwin (our car) to help her get on the unicycle-
She pedals, finds her balance, gets in the correct posture-
Then lets go of Darwin and YIPEE! she does it!
Then down she goes, falling the “right” way thank goodness-
Only to try and try again! This kid doesn’t give up and will continue to keep at it until she is a pro!
Now to figure out a way to cushion that seat for her!

It’s so fun to find things that you enjoyed as a kid, introduce them to your little ones and they find them enjoyable too! That’s what happened when I brought home an Ed Emberley book for Fauna- she spent hours making thumbprint art.
Here are my favorites of Fauna’s creative “thumbprinting” critters-
I see a future plush raccoon from this one!
And here are some great fingerprinting ideas and links-
Ed Emberley’s webpage- I love his thumbprint self portrait.
fingerprint family tree- Ohh, I really want to do this at the next family party!
Custom art for your wall- This looks so professional and is so simple to do! Thanks Kelly from Heathen Family Revival for sharing this link!
The history of fingerprints- A great timeline of fingerprints through history.
Lesson plan on classification- A lesson on inventing ways to classify fingerprints.
