new microscope and color
Our outdoor “classroom” is full of color-

And the difficult learning of patience.
Here is Rainy waiting-

and waiting-

and waiting!

Finally!

A new microscope with new slides to view is an afternoon well spent! The microscope is- My First Lab Duo-Scope Microscope and the really cool box of 25 slides is- Celestron 44410 Prepared Microscope Slides. The microscope is very easy to use and has dual lights, one below the slide and one that shines from above for a different type of observation. The box of slides includes a bee face, dog intestines, blood smear, and many other cool things.

Shop update- I have added a lot of plush to my 5 Orange Potatoes Etsy shop over the last few days- new mini hedgehogs, mice, hootenannies, a star-nose mole, and a seahorse. Hop on over for a look.

“That’s all.”

I loved looking at slides when I was young too. They are so fascinating.
Rain is my kinda girl with that peace sign shirt she’s wearing. You go girl!

Ooh, very cool! I think I would have fun with that microscope! Love the outdoor setting for learning!
Oh how nice! Lovely blog and photo’s. I can’t wait to get a moment to read when my daughters are around. I’m afraid they will want a microscope:)
I’m so jealous of your outdoor classroom! It’s still so very hot here in Florida, we don’t dare go outdoors unless it involves water. Soon, our time will come.
And I love that microscope; my girls would be all over that. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, we just purchased those prepared slides. Karen

Looks like the best lesson from the microscope is patience. Lovely photos as always!
We have that same microscope! It’s been the source of a lot of fun over the last couple of years.
I wanted to let you know that I gave my dd (12) Strawberry Hedgie and she looooooooooves it! Thank you so much for your wonderful crafts and your awesome inspiration in every direction.
Cheers!
Adorable pupils and a perfect way to learn (and teach !).
great this kind of going to school!!
Love the outdoor classroom!
This is fantastic! I am home schooling for the first time this year….AND LOVING IT! I have so much to learn…but we are having an absolute BLAST!!!!!
I love your inspirations! =)
THANKS!
those facial expressions are PRICELESS:) Hope you’ve been having a great summer~ from the looks of it, I’m thinking that’s been the case;)
Soak up that outside time. I know we sure are doing the same!
Love the telescope. I’ve been thinking about upgrading ours and I love the prepared slides. I think my girls would have to wait patiently for me to finish. I wonder what a collection of hootenannies would be called.
Thank you so much for sharing the information regarding the microscope – this is something we really would like to add to our home learning.
I love how you captured the “waiting” in true sibling style.
Warm wishes.
Ooooh, that’s what I would really like for our home classroom. A microscope. Maybe that would be a good Christmas gift!
Isn’t it incredible how the perspective changes when you see something through a microscope. Have fun with your new microscope in the great outdoors. Be Well everyone!
Her patients is adorable. Does that last photo remind anyone else of the show Dexter? Hmm? No? Maybe not.
It’s still so beautiful there! We’re thinking about getting a microscope this year so I appreciate this post. Thanks, Lisa for sharing what you have.
I have wanted a microscope for a while now…just added it to my Amazon wish list.
I love that top photo — and of course all of the patience Rainy is showing. We got our first microscope this summer at a garage sale. E had to fix it a bit to get the light to work. Ours only came with 4-5 slides. Wish the kids were half as into it as your girls seem to be.
We just ordered our first microscope. I’m so excited. But I hadn’t considered getting slides. Thats a great idea.
How patient! I don’t think I could even keep my cool like she did!! Adorable post!
looks like a fun day outside
Z’s microscope is one of his favorite things . . . and I love watching the viewing squint.
This post was funny and pretty!!! Love it!
Awesome microscope –good Santa fodder. Little Rainy is too cute, waiting so patiently!
