our curricula today- outdoor monday
The curricula today-
Amphibians- Gray Treefrog, it was nice to actually see one of these little guys which we hear every night in the warm summer months.

They camouflage so well. This guy really looked like the Pin Oak’s bark, including the lichen that grows on it.

COEXISTING- the two Gray Hairstreaks are sharing the mint flowers with a Pearl Crescent. Actually there are 100s of these small butterflies, including skippers and sulphurs, wasps, and bees all over our blooming mint right now.

Patterns in nature- a Buckeye butterfly’s concentric circles.

Literature- Charlotte’s Web, an Ohio black and yellow garden spider (underside picture). Did you know that there are 7 segments to a spider’s leg?

If you are participating in Outdoor Challenge Mondays, be sure your blog link is below; if you still want to participate let me know and I’ll add you to the list.

The picture of the frog is wonderful and I love the Buckeye butterfly. I saw one the other day and didn’t recognize it and I thought ” I’ll bet that 5 Orange Potatoes mom knows what this is!”

Your photographs of all the little insects are beautiful. Natures gift to us, the children love so much. We are travelling in our RV, at the moment so we are enjoying all the different scenery, and wildlife that shows itself. I can’t wait to snuggle one of your little hedgies.. they are so adorable.

Blessings!
I love that you know the names of all the little creatures that live around you. Right now I have the goal to learn all the trees and slowly move into insects.
We had fun doing otter pop art on a sunny summer day! (the past week we have had more of a chill in the air)

Beautiful little creatures!
I’ve noticed there are tons of Monarchs here in Michigan this summer! Which is such a joy:)
Excellent post!
Oh, I so love that tiny froggie.
Wonderful to see your nature photos again (not that I don’t love the Etsy goodness & craft show success, too); I soooooo love to learn about the natural world from your posts.
We would like to participate, can you add our blog link!
I posted today about the spider we found.
Awesome! That tree frog is amazing; the butterflies are gorgeous. A perfect reminder of the beauty and wonder of our world. Thank you.
