birthday

2010 August 27
by 5 Orange Potatoes

Yesterday was Fauna’s 9Th birthday. She had a full day of friends, lemonade (she helped with a lemonade stand), the park, and chocolate cake! Her favorite gifts were her new roller blades and a pair of bright yellow walkie talkies. I can tell  she is growing up because she didn’t really ask for toys this birthday.

Araina was all smiles yesterday too.

Fauna was happy to see the hedgehog below in her gifts, she has been begging for her since the day I made her!

I made her a chocolate cake with chocolate icing; with raspberry jam between the layers and raspberries sprinkled on top. The raspberry mixed with all that chocolate is so yummy!!!!! Now to get over the fact that next year she will be 10!

“That’s all.”

A huge happy birthday to Fauna. 9 is getting to be so big isn’t it. Double digits make this momma’s stomach do a few flip flops too. At least we have a year to go!

That chocolate and raspberry cake sounds REALLY yummy — I just might have to try it with the wonderful Swiss chocolates!

Happy Birthday, mama! Your girls are so beautiful. My girls are 2 & 6; I can see already how quickly these young years will just melt away. So, no toy requests by 9?! Makes me want to hold them close & tight, as I’m sure you’re feeling too. Many birthday blessings to Fauna!

Many happy returns to the beautiful birthday girl! Aw, sounds like a gr8 day! I remember being 9 like it was yesterday, such a brilliant age, all drawing maps, making up secret codes that mums can’t read and collecting dead insects. No toys necessary!

Happy happy birthday – to both of you – I think birthdays are always more sentimental for mothers than for kids who just get caught up in the present excitement, without much thought to other birthdays – and especially THE birthday.

Her party sounds perfect – lemonade and chocolate raspberry cake are hard to beat!

Happy Birthday! It is bittersweet when they stop asking for toys. I had trouble when my oldest child hit double digits; this year he became a teenager!

I love chocolate and raspberry together. I bet the cake was delicious!

You can tell they are growing up when they don’t ask for toys. When my daughter turned 8 in July all she asked for was chapter books. Where do all those years go so fast?
