show and tell

2010 August 1
by 5 Orange Potatoes

Here’s a little Sunday show and tell today of the critters I’ve been working on (photos taken by Fauna).

Last week I made 10 of these large owl pillows from my vintage sheet collection. My sister Robin was gifted the green one below for her couch; she really deserves it for the help she has been to me in starting up my new business!

I found this fantastic bright green vintage suitcase to hold some of the owl pillows for my “pop-up shop.”

New seahorses and star-nosed moles; I’ve been told recently that I need to make daddy seahorses with pockets holding babies, indeed that would be cute ;) !

I made this colorful hedgie with big eyes, turns out that he likes to party!

In the next week or so I hope to update my Etsy shop but I have one more indie fair in Columbus (Summer FLEA) to do next weekend, which I will be lugging all my stock to.

“That’s all.”

Lisa, your work is truly amazing. Look how much you have done in less than a year! Your new pillows are adorable, and I love that you manage to keep coming up with new products. A daddy seahrose with babies is a clever idea!

The vintage sheet patterns are great, I can smell that only vintage sheet smell that is so unique to great worn cotton! Owls seem to be hip, I am seing them around and my kids are talking about them lately too.

I just love that little hedgehog, he’s adorable! I think I need to swing by your Etsy shop and start my Christmas shopping early for my kids :) Good luck at the fair, I think you’ll do great!

I want a seahorse too! I have a baby due in Feb… just let us know when you put them up on Etsy. :)

Totally jealous Robin got the green owl – he’s my fav. But really, they are all cute. I love them so much, Lisa. Way to go!

  25. August 1, 2010

Okay, so I’ve totally made an owl just like those ones. And I knew I had seen a suitcase with owls in it before…on the blog where I got the pattern! Was that just a coincidence? I love your seahorses, by the way.

    • August 2, 2010

hmmm, I made my own pattern for the owl pillows, put darts in them too (new skill for me). There are so many like minds on the internet.

      • August 2, 2010

Okay, the one I made isn’t exactly the same. It has ‘wings’ and there aren’t any darts, lol. The eyes and nose are placed a little differently, but they are so similar! Oh, well, I guess that’s just what cute owls look like. :)

  26. August 1, 2010

the owl bedsheet pillows are the best thing ive seen you make. if i saw one of those at a fair, i’d buy it. xx

    • August 2, 2010

The pillows are the easiest things I’ve made so far. They take half the time to make too, not as fun creative wise as my other plush.

  27. August 1, 2010

Oh my, they are soooo cute. No pressure but I’ll take a seahorse whenever you have the time. Her birthday isn’t until October so I’ve got time. I just like to be prepared because you can never tell with shipping to Alaska. I’ve been real lucky so far. Great luck to you at your upcoming fair!
