monet bridge
Our local arboretum has a blue bridge that you see children running back and forth on every time we visit. The name of the bridge is called “The Monet Bridge” and it’s pretty well known what inspired the design of this bridge. It used to have big beautiful weeping willows that welcomed you onto the bridge, but ice damage took them down not very long ago
. The little ladies love to stand in the center of the bridge and look down below for frogs, turtles, and fish. Actually, Araina’s hat is at the bottom of the pond below the bridge; a few years ago a large gust of wind whipped it right off her head to never be seen again! She still talks about that day and how sad she felt to watch her favorite hat sink.

Many wedding pictures have been taken on this bridge; including my sister Katrina’s.

Bridge Over a Pond of Water Lilies by Claude Monet (1899)

How lovely is that! Perhaps we’ll make a field trip of it.
Random p.s.: I wanted to thank you for citing that assasin bug a few months back. We found one on our beans last week! And I recognized it, spit spot, for having seen it here, first. Quite stunning, actually.
Cheers,
Molly
You are lucky to have a local arboretum. I love how kids hang on to certain memories, things that were so significant to their young lives.
I love these Monet bridge photos!
I love the turquoise of the bridge – and what a cute photo of your little girl!
That is so great! I love Monet.
How beautiful that bridge is! Where is it?? We love Monet!
Thanks for sharing!

Oh how I love Monet!
Linea in Monet’s Garden is a great book that we like around here. She goes to the real Monet Garden–might be something your kids would like!
what a beautiful color– reminds me of robin egg blue…..love that monet painting, too…..
it is wonderful!
LOVE that color, what an awesome bridge!
The water lillies painting is one of my favorites of Monet I have the poster hanging up. That would be such a cool place for photos.
I would love to take photos of this bridge. It is a lovely park, I am sure that all children love it.
How fun! I’d love to visit that sometime.
Must be like stepping into a painting. So cool (except for the lost hat part).
I have a sad lost hat or almost lost hat story. When I was about 12/13 I had this black hat that I wore all of the time. One day my mom and I were walking into the grocery store and it was very windy. My hat blew off but was near the ground. And elderly lady stooped to pick it up for me and she tripped and fell and we had to call an ambulance. I think she was okay but I felt so horrified by it all. I was so upset that I bet and twisted the hat with my hands as we stood there dealing with the ordeal. I never wore that hat again.
That bridge is so cool! Sorry about Araina’s hat. Princess would have been sad, too.
I love the color of the bridge. It’s so cheerful!
A lovely post – you caught that moment on the bridge – I really felt like your daughter was thinking as exactly like you said — imagining that hat resting at the bottom of the pond.
Simply beautiful!
