work in progress and my garden
Work in Progress
Lately, I’ve been lacking in creativity in the sewing department. I hadn’t sewn a single thing for about a month until yesterday when the creativity hit me- a happy little hedgehog named Hildegard. I was up until 2:30 last night working on her and thought I would share a little sneak peek of Hildegard tonight. Now, I took this photo this morning and she has changed a lot since then- she now also has ears and freckles. I love her, she’s my favorite critter so far! More to come on Hildegard later.

My Garden
Did a little weeding and planting today in our front garden. Here are some favorite things-
I have a thing for scented geraniums. I just love all the different varieties there are! This one below is an old fashioned rose scent, I like to add the leaves to sugar for a subtle rose taste. HA! I plan on making rose geranium jelly this summer as well!

Our front garden is starting to bloom- iris and catmint and a lot of buds on the fairy rose.

An old fashioned rose-

I have all kinds of different thymes growing in my garden. This one is new to me, it’s called Orange Spice, I bought it in Virginia last weekend. It will make a great tasting tea or a tangy kick to lemonade.

Now, to get outside and go frog hunting with the little ladies and then finish Hildegard.
“That’s all.”

I LOVE Hildegard!
Hildegard is a favorite – both the hedgehog and the namesake. Such a lovely garden – and I’m very partial to the rose scented geraniums and the old fashioned roses, too.
We adore that hedgehog, awwwww! We hope you and your beautiful family are well. Here is a peek of how we spent our Saturday afternoon outside:

Hildagard is so adorable and precious! I need to learn how to sew and create beautiful things like this! Thank you for sharing … look forward to seeing more pictures of her
.
What do you do with all your flower jellies? The concept is entirely new to me, so I’m curious!
I long for the day when we can have a garden. But, at least we saw lots of beautiful flowers today.
Happy weekend!

Hildegard is lovely! Is she named after Hildegard Von Bingen?
Your garden is so beautiful, love that little red gnome creature!
She sure is named after Hildegard Von Bingen!
Beautiful garden! Hildegard is adorable. I just love hedgehogs.
You ad thyme to lemonade? That’s something new,I’ll have to try! Hildegard looks so sweet!
I never have before but this orange spice thyme would work in lemonade. It’s got a neat tangy taste that would work great with lemons.
Wow – I love your garden – it’s still been too cold to plant anything here…
Hi, Hildegard — aren’t you cute?!
And oh, I loooove scented geraniums, too! They’re hard to find around here, and when you do, it’s mostly the citronella scented ones. We discovered a tiny little nursery one time on vacation, and wouldn’t you know, they had all different scents…I bought one of every kind.
I have a thing for mint, too…chocolate, orange, lemon, regular old spearmint…yum!
I love hedgehogs.
Oh Lisa.. Hildegard is adorable! Hedgehogs have a special place in my heart and you’ve outdone yourself with this design!!
It’s a fairy land… with strange and cute creatures
I’ve not seen orange spice thyme before. I love the varieties that you can find. I’m assuming that they are new varieties that people have cultivated. I found a chocolate mint plant last year. I chopped it up fine into ice cream and if you closed your eyes you would be convinced that you were eating chocolate mint ice cream. Amazing plant. I’m now on the lookout for others to try. Rose geranium is on my list. Who needs flavours out of a bottle.
Love Hildegard as well!
Love your front garden! Oh how I miss lush green beautiful spaces… Thank you for sharing yours!
Lookin good…love that little sculpture!
You are so creative! I have popped over here a few times and have always been inspired. I have nominated you for the Sunshine Award. Thanks for inspiring me!
Love Hildegard! Very sweet. I also love seeing pics of your garden. It’s beautiful.

Hildegard is quite cute — but I’m personally all about the gardens. Yours are lovely and oh, I want the porch swing!
Oh my gosh…I have a thing for scented geraniums, too! Oh & by the way…the rose geranium oil “as an insect repellent” seems to be doing a good job of keeping the bugs at bay thus far. I’ll have to see if it stays that way!
I love Hildegard. Adorable!!!
I love your old fashioned rose. Are you good at IDing rose? We’ve often wondered what we have–we have an old fashioned-looking fuschia-colored one and a yellow one.
We were looking at houses on the internet tonight–we’d love to move away from here (bad, bad neighbors & too “in town”). We found a nice farmhouse with four acres and it sits along a creek! Now I’m daydreaming…too bad our bank account isn’t daydreaming with us!
Your garden is lovely! I love catmint – it smells fantastic and is so pretty when it blooms. My roses are starting to bloom, too. Have a fabulous day!

That hedgehog is entirely too cute!
Love Hildegard! Quite a cutie of a hedgehog. The gardens are lovely!
