Wow, I feel so disconnected since my last post was on Saturday morning (after posting everyday for the month of April); my sister told me she was tired of seeing violets every time she checked the blog for something new; so I’m trying to beat the storm that is brewing outside and hurry up to get this posted.

We had a lovely weekend, although it was overcast and rainy. We spent Saturday at our friends’ house; Mr. K put a platform in their willow tree which the little ladies adore! It’s the perfect place for a tea party! Araina can get up there, but needs help getting down; this is how I found her when I came to her rescue-

The little ladies were also busy making wild edible salad and made sure to include red bud blossoms (photo by Fauna).

While the little ladies were outdoors, I was busy helping my friend Kendra pin her gorgeous totes and prep them for sewing (remember my post on dyeing fabric, this is what it’s for).

More jelly making…I’m obsessed and my friend Kendra is obsessed! Here, Kendra made a cherry blossom apple jelly and a lilac jelly. Fauna helped her late into the evening on Friday night making the lilac jelly (Fauna spent the night). Both Kendra and Fauna are insomniacs so they make a good team. Tomorrow I’m planning to make peppermint jelly and lemon balm jelly; I hope it turns out tasty.

Speaking of night owls, look at the fun and gaudy owl lamp my sister gave me today. She picked it up at a local thrift store for $5. I think I will paint it though, the green and gold are a little much for me. As soon as hubs saw it he pointed and said, “What the?” Then he admitted to me that he kind of likes gaudy lamps and he’s right, you should see the monkey lamp he bought years ago! ;)

I found some lovely violas and begonias on my mom’s porch that I just had to snap a pic of. I love the sunny yellow colors.

The news I’ve been meaning to share- I’m going to be a weekly contributor to The Magnifying Glass, be sure to visit and join the photo contest and learn how to make moss milkshakes! ;)

***Outdoor Challenge Mondays will start next week. I will put up a post soon to collect links to those of you that will be joining in.

“That’s all.”

sisters are great, aren’t they? first they are always honest with you, whether you like it or not. second, they buy the gawdiest stuff because it makes them think of you! what would we do without them? ; )

Still having fun outdoors I see. I loved your violet posts. It’s a very short season and we just do the best we can. You jelly looks great and we got in a little kite flying ourselves. Enjoy.

I can’t imagine what moss milkshakes would taste like. We used to make little moss gardens on plates or large saucers and decorate them with tiny flowers, small flats stones for a path and a very small bottle top or something like that for a pond. It was great!

We took part in the challenge but me being me, kept forgetting to post my links here!

I really love your lamp. If only I could find one like it here…..

We made Dandelion jelly last week, and found out it tastes great on home-made grahm crackers. This week we made Lilac Jelly, it’s pretty tasty too, rather flower-y and a pretty pink color.

I love that lamp! I am looking forward to seeing how it ends up. Such pretty colors. Aren’t sister funny the way the tell us what to do? You can tell her that I liked the violets. I love my sisters!

That tree looks like a perfect place for a little hideaway. Congrats on The Magnifying Glass! I’ve never met a milkshake I didn’t like, so I’m heading over right now to read up on these moss ones! ;-)

    What a fun post

I can only guess that the moss milkshakes are the same that we wrote about last year – moss and milk in a blender! :) (What else could it possibly be??)
Cool how moss adapts like that.
