all a rainy day needs is a sunflower umbrella
I have to admit, today was a true challenge to get outdoors! It was wet, it was cold, and it was rainy. I found myself lagging a bit about it, but we did it and once we were outside, it was hard to come back in.
I mean come on, a sunflower umbrella makes a rainy day quite sunny!

Outdoor Challenge Participant of the Day- The family from Adventures of a Flake, took the challenge into the night by getting the telescope out to do a little star viewing.

Awesome umbrella! We just had about four or five days of rain, now it’s sunning up!
that is the cutest umbrella, ever!!
The last one of rainy is so darn cute! I posted a pic of you taking a pic on flickr
tee hee hee
what a fun umbrella! your daughter looked so happy to be holding it, no matter the weather.
we got caught in a terrible storm the other day while walking to the park. we turned around when it started to rain but didn’t get far before it was coming down so hard i couldn’t even see. we had no umbrella. the rain was cold. Dot was crying. i ended up pushing the empty stroller and holding the dog’s leash while my husband carried Dot over his back so she didn’t get rain in her eyes (she hates getting anything in her eyes). we sure could have used a sunny sunflower umbrella then!! but we survived
and maybe now Dot will believe us when we say the weather looks too bad to go to the park (we told her she could play in the rain in the back yard but she insisted on the playground).
Kids love rain don’t they! cute umbrella and cute kid!
Young naturalists played “What do you see?” today

happy day!

Happy Days, thanks again and again for this fun project xx
That is one great umbrella!!
We got back from our week long vacation to NY… I posted some of the great outdoor activities we did while we were there with family. It was really fun exploring a new place and seeing new things, like onion grass!!

That umbrella is super duper! I would love to have a few great umbrellas around here… it only rains like 5 days a year though… some day. Some day I will live in a wet place again, and rock a super cool umbrella!
That umbrella should be renamed the awe-brella, because it’s just that rad.
We played at the beach with some friends before the rain took over yesterday:

A cool umbrella definitely helps get you out on wet days! And it’s true that once you get outside in the rain, it has its own rewards if you can keep moving. It’s just getting up the oomph to do it, sometimes, when you’re so cozy inside.
I do LOVE that umbrella!
Love that umbrella! The boys don’t bother with such things as umbrellas…they just get soaking wet and then want a change of clothes every hour or so. I keep thinking that if they are just going to get soaking wet…why bother changing?

Araina’s such a cutie! Love the umbrella!
Beautiful beautiful beautiful! She’s a fairy!
What a fun umbrella!! I can see how that would make the rain oh so much more fun *grin*.
We’ve been making your dandelion cookies and eating them just as fast as we could bake them LOL. http://rosinahuber.blogspot.com/2010/04/dandelion-flower-cookies-outdoor.html
I find the hardest thing about being outdoorsy is thinking what to do inside on a rainy day. I think I would always pick washing extra sets of wet and muddy clothes over doing puzzles over and over again. Love the umbrella!
HI Lisa,
Our harvest day is Fridays and during monsoon season in July & August it will be sunny everyday except pouring rain on Fridays……the one day we absolutely have to be outside. We get our rain gear on and I really do love being out in that!
I love the sunflower umbrella and I’m so glad to see you girls out loving the rain!
love,
sara
Love the umbrella! Ours is boring black, but my little guy took it out in the rain today for a walk! It was hard for us to get out, too, but mainly because I was tired and he was cranky all morning and just couldn’t seem to get out there. By the time we were ready to go out, it was raining!
That umbrella rocks!!
It can be tough to get outside on rainy days, so kuddos to you! I think kids secretly love to be outside in the wet — what’s not to love about jumping in puddles or trying to see what floats or painting in the rain?
I agree Debi, actually the girls were gung ho about going out. It was my old bones that were hesitating a bit.
Oh wow, I love the umbrella! (and the boots!)
We made it out a couple of times today, but I don’t have pictures of my favorite part – baseball in the backyard. I was too busy catching…

She is such a cutie! Love these photos, especially the last one. Great umbrella!
My little guy decided to clean up the neighborhood today, http://chocoeyes.blogspot.com/2010/04/outdoor-challenge-we-have-to-take-care.html
Becca
We made it out in the morning for an hour and made it back home right before it started pouring.
We saw some new flowers on our walk which we will post tomorrow (we are a day behind).
But we had a wonderful sunday at the beach yesterday.

Oh my..these pictures look like they need framed! They’re so sweet!
With an umbrella like that I wouldn’t mind going out in the rain. Can you believe on a couple of the crummy days we still wear heavier jackets snow boots. Luckily this weekend was just cloudy so there was some wood working

Oh, where did you find that umbrella?! It definitely brightens up a rainy day.
We went on a little walk with my dad today…

Beautiful!
After our time outdoors today, I had to express my love for the outdoor challenge!

Thanks so much for the life changing inspiration, Lisa!
that umbrella is AWESOME – I can’t wait for sunflowers. we’ve been picking strawberries out of our little herb garden this week! this is the first year they look and taste like actual strawberries! http://www.ruestew.com/
We were supposed to get rain today, but the sun was shining. Yeah! I love that bright umbrella.
