happy earth day everyday- outdoor challenge
Not only is today Earth Day, but it’s my birthday; actually I was born on the very first Earth Day (yep, that means I’m the big 40 this year). I have heard many times, “It’s so fitting that your birthday is the same day as Earth Day,” and I find it fitting too, but my reasons for celebrating Earth Day aren’t the political or environmental reasons; to me Earth Day is about the raw beauty of nature, the beauty of our flora and fauna, the beauty of predator and prey, the beauty of this giant sphere we call Earth; and really today is no different than any other day (except for being a year older). Hey, I’ve been called “The Happy Mole Girl” for a reason (after telling my friend’s husband to stop putting those nasty traps in his yard that decapitate moles, but he should let them live in the ground and ‘be happy’
). For a short history of Earth Day visit here.
Here’s some of that raw beauty I’m talking about-

– Happy earthbirthday Lisa!! I’ll join you in a couple of months. Please tell me it’s fun to be 40
I can so relate to your feelings about Earth Day, and your pictures are lovely. I’m wondering about the violets though – they look huge! Oak leaf mulch – or just plain old american size (what we call things of great big size)?
Happy Birthday and Happy Earth day (one day late)! I do think it’s quite fitting that you were born on that day.
I’m crazy about those Bleeding Heart flowers…they’re so sweet!

Happy birthday! We didn’t do much to celebrate Earth Day today except walk to the store instead of driving. I was sort of thinking “Hey, we’ll save a little gas” but really I just wanted to get outside and celebrate the earth by experiencing it.
I love the flower photos. I’m slowing learning to identify different plants and flowers and I’m teaching my son, too.
Happy Earth Day and Happy Birthday!!
Happy birthday!! Lovely flowers. I’m pleased to say that even though we are in a much cooler climate we also have bleeding hearts and forget me nots in bloom, although not a lot more than that. Love your photos!
Hope your birthday was lovely! Here is what we did today.
