creek time and tadpoles- outdoor challenge

2010 April 21
by 5 Orange Potatoes

Time at the creek with my baby, it’s always so special to get one on one time with one of your children (when you have more than one of course).

Araina felt the need to do some yoga on a rock, “This is the half moon pose Mommy.”

“And don’t forget to do the other side.”

A friend gave us some tadpoles the other day so we collected some creek water and algae to make them a good home. To learn more about how to raise tadpoles click here.

So FASCINATING to see them go through this metamorphosis.

Outdoor Challenge Participant of the Day- Marcia’s daughter, from child in harmony, sat down to do some writing outside when a visitor joined her-

Goes to show that you never know who will make a visit when you’re outdoors!

Good to see little tadpoles again. I miss the two small ponds we used to have in England, listening to the frog chorus, seeing them wandering across the garden in the rain. I haven’t seen a single frog in the five years we’ve been in new Zealand. It looks lovely down by your creek, an ideal spot for yoga too.

    We are raising tadpoles, too.

This is our first time doing it. We have about half of them that survived thus far and they now have back legs! This is an awesome experience for the kiddos. Next year we want to try lady bugs and caterpillars.

Outside yoga sounds fun, with the added bonus of the sound of the running water.

Outside yoga improv is the best.

Our challenge is more of the outside brought inside for further study:

Cool tadpoles! Yoga on a rock…hmmm, I’ve never tried that.

I love that your daughter was inspired to do yoga alongside the creek! We used to do yoga with the preschoolers at the daycare I taught at, and I’ve recently started trying it with my son.

Here’s my first Outdoor Challenge post:

We’re still playing and loving it! We just found some newts and I linked an article about frogs and newts and salamanders disappearing and what we can do about it.

I tried putting all the participants links in my post but wordpress kicked it out (gave me a message I don’t remember now). I don’t know how to put it in if it won’t let me copy and paste…
