outdoor challenge

Our day in pictures-

Great Blue Heron

Outdoor Challenge Participants that aren’t gonna let a little cold rain stop them from playing outside-

Megan and her lovely ladies, from Sorta Crunchy, made stick and leaf soup in a classic red wagon today. I love what Megan had to say about the day, “Yes, I allowed the girls to play outside (barefoot) in the rain for almost half an hour.  And it was not a warm rain, nor was it a particularly warm day.”

Dottie, from The Addams Remedy, felt the need to water the flowers, although it was already raining.

Visit the other Great Outdoor Challenge players- 155 so far! It’s never too late to join; people are still entering daily!

i LOVE the stick easel idea. thanks so much! i think the kids will dig the dragonfly idea too. nature and art are often one and the same, and when they’re not, they make a great combination.

    Gorgeous photos as always :)
We did some reading out in the garden today, all sitting on the trampoline as a family. I love bearing witness to my children enjoying the sunshine!

Fabulous outdoorsy pictures! I have some photos of our outdoor fun today that I’ll send you. We made nests with grass cuttings on the village green and decorated them with daisies and dandelions. Mr P distracted them for a second and put in an egg-shaped stone. There was general excitement at the th0ught that a little bird had come and used the nest!

I just clicked over from Megan post on Sorta Crunchy about your Outdoor Challenge. I love this — please count me in! My son and I have fallen into a rut of only heading outdoors on “nice” days…and I know he (and I) can and will benefit from much more time spent outside. You’ve inspired me, and I’m going to be sure our raincoats and rainboots get plently of use from here on out!

Hello there! We do play outside everyday, and the play gets longer and longer with this good weather. I always find your blog inspiration in regards to your use of herbs. A friend and I are going to do an herbal focus throughout our next school year with the girls to ensure a little real-life science in our Waldorf-inspired K year. Our girls already love gardening, so it fits!

Here’s my latest posts which show off the muddy kiddos. Feel free to use pictures if you like:

Great shots! Princess used to love to play in the rain or in any weather as long as she was outside. Hopefully she will find that joy again.

Okay! It’s time for me to enter the challenge- my girlies have been on their DS’s a little too much lately!!

    Gorgeous heron picture!
We had a great family hike this weekend. My kids ground up juniper berries with sandstone mortar/pestles and my son made a mandala a la Andy Goldsworthy with sticks, juniper berries, soil and elk poop. Yes, elk poop.

I can think of a number of days past when my grandson has wanted to stay outside to play when it hasn’t been very pleasant and I’ve opted for doing some art work inside instead. I really have to just go with him one of these days – it IS great fun to be outside in all kinds of weather! At least for a while. That’s why this is called a “Challenge”. Thank you for that.

Squeeee! Love the flowers – so pretty. That heron shot is so inspiring.

    LOVE Dottie’s boots. How precious!

Thanks for featuring my girlies and their wagon soup. We probably wouldn’t have been so inspired to go outside in the rain if it weren’t for this challenge! So thank you for that. Good, good memories.

That’s how our wagon often looks, though with more dirt, and rust…
Such pretty flowers, such an amazing bird!

I did grab the camera on my way out one day last week…
