softies and outdoor challenge
I’ve been spending so much time outdoors and so much time making jelly that I haven’t had very much time to nurture the creative side of me. I do, however, have a couple softy friends to share that I have made this month.
This rhino in a tree is made of a vintage sheet. I had A LOT of help with this one from my friend Kendra. She thinks his head is too big, but I love the exaggerated proportions! I think he’s darling and must come down from the tree to be hugged!

This winky-eyed bunny gal was in Araina’s spring basket. Her color choices were green, blue, and hot pink.

Fauna got one too; but her color choices were pink, blue, and brown.

More outdoor shots of today. Araina made me a special salad. She found all the edibles of this salad outside in our lawn and garden.

She called the salad “Mother Nature’s Salad.” See the face- dandelion flower eyes and a dandelion leaf for a mouth? I loved it and I loved the fact that she knows the edibles in our yard!

So technically, as Fauna just pointed out to me, the pic below is not an outdoor pic since it is in a garage, but I love this pic. We were at our friends’ house today and Araina’s number one fan, Porter, perched himself up on the steering wheel of their John Deere tractor. Also, notice the car seat, it is super bolted to the tractor so Porter is able to cut the grass with his daddy. I LOVE it!

Now for the Outdoor Challenge Participant of the Day- Be still my heart, Rana’s little girl of Free to Learn an Lovin it, picked a little container of my favorite little violet flowers. I wonder if she had a nibble?

I love, love, love, the bunny! We are participating every day of this month (trying to anyway). All my posts about our nature time start with “Outdoor Challenge.” I’m loving this challenge. It’s the extra nudge I needed to get outside starting this month. =) We’re having fun with it, thanks for hosting!
In this post, I talk about licking Power Bait. Yum! lol ~Cori

I have been trying my own outdoor challenge – as much for my own well being as my kiddos. We all do better when we spend as much time as possible outside. It occurred to me that since I am challenging myself there anyway, I could post a link
.

Alex,
I LOVE the quote on your blog “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” – Mary Oliver”
I hope you don’t mind but I’ve borrowed it for my own blog’s quote of the day. Who was mary Oliver?
Charley
I LOVE that Rhino…and that foraged salad looks delicious. You should to be so proud she knows what to collect.
I just posted an update catching up on our last few days outdoors. http://littleecofootprints.typepad.com/little_eco_footprints/2010/04/our-dark-outdoors-.html
Its autumn here and its getting dark earlier so on work days we have struggled to get outdoors before darkness falls. Four days of not working now so were off outdoors!
Love the salad! and the cherub on the tractor is precious! great idea with the carseat lol.

Technically this post is for Thursday the 15th as we’re a few hours ahead of you down here in Aus.
We headed down to the beach for a walk and a fossick in the rockpools. We drew in the sand, found some worn away limpet shells that looked like stars and a smooth piece of glass that looked like the moon. We made a collage on a rock and left it there.
Lots of creep crawlies spotted on the walk down there too.

Loving that salad! My daughter has been running around the house munching on chickweed, convincing her father that it is indeed edible!
YUMMY, we love chickweed around here too!

We are having so much fun getting out and about. Today was a simple yet wonderful stop at a playground. http://heartfelthomemaking.blogspot.com/2010/04/spring-time-joy.html
We are having too much fun outside, and it’s becoming hard to find time to post. That’s a great problem to have! Thanks for the encouragement.

Lisa,
I love the salad. Your girls look so cute. I love little man on the tractor steering wheel. Thanks for putting Tinky girls picture up. Excuse the container the dog got a hold of it and chewed it. We have been having a great time participating in the Outdoor Challenge.
Omg!!! I love Choco’s sisters! They are adorable. Sloane carries Choco around with her wherever we go. I’ll have to show her Choco’s two sisters. She will be thrilled. Thanks for putting so much love into your “work”.
Love, Shan
Lisa, I love your purple-house memory; thanks for sharing it! I have “memories,” too, that were stories I heard or mis-remembered details.
We’ve spent two blissful mornings at a nearby park; I posted about it today.
I love Mother Nature’s salad!
The salad is beautiful. And the girls look so sweet with their bunnies.
I love the cute winky bunnies! Also that’s great that your children know their plants.
We went on a hunt for things that are yellow today..

Adorable and unique creations! Love the rhino.
What cute little critters.
Araina’s salad is impressive!! She knows way more than I do about edibles. That totally rocks!!
I love all the softies! Did you just melt when Araina presented you with that salad? I would have! Love it all, Lisa! (especially the retro fitted John Deere.)
I love the mother nature salad! I’m very impressed with your little girl and her edible plant knowledge.
We spent some time in the backyard today for day 2 of our challenge:

The carseat on the Tractor is genius! John Deere could make a lot of money marketing that!
