araina’s rite of passage

2010 February 5
by 5 Orange Potatoes

Here is Araina yesterday afternoon wiggling her first loose tooth-

rain wiggling loose tooth

She wiggled it and wiggled it and wiggled it……until……eventually, she pulled it out herself! Brave little lady, I was never able to do that as a kid!

Here she is after her shower last night, admiring her new look in the mirror-

lost a tooth!

HMPH! She looks a little older to me today- in a matter of a day. :(

Aw, ‘A’ just finally lost one of his front teeth a couple weeks ago and today as he was eating a pear the one next to it became really loose as well. Tonight he was so worried to fall asleep, afraid that it was going to fall out while he is sleeping and swallow it! I tried to get him to wiggle it out.. but he was like, no way! Araina is a brave little one! :)

Yeah Araina!!!! What a brave girl you are!! I could never pull my teeth out by myself!

Congrats! My 5 yr old was so exciting when she lost her first tooth just a few months ago! It really is a right of passage and one that had me almost in tears!

Congrats! Lily just lost her second tooth. She’s not quite as interested in pulling teeth herself though!

We have a wiggly tooth here too! My baby, can’t stop calling her that, is 5 and just noticed a few days ago her one tooth was wiggly. It hasn’t come out yet.

Oh, Lisa… I know exactly how you are feeling… and my K knows how Ariana’s feeling too!! K lost her first a few months ago and it shook my world… it was as if I could feel Time breathing down my neck… I had to face that she isn’t my baby anymore, my gilr, yes, but not my baby… It must feel even more when it’s your littlest one.
Blessings and magic to both of you * hugs too.

My Bella, 5 1/2, is always asking when she is going to be losing her first tooth. By this summer right? Kayla always had drama losing teeth, but I could definitely see Bella yanking one out to just say she lost her tooth.

Isn’t it amazing how different a child can look without a tooth???

  10. February 6, 2010

Good for her. Tell her congratulations!

Amelia is sooo excited to lose a tooth. I would rather not deal with round 2 of teeth! The 1st round has been tough!

    Have a good weekend, Karen

Fauna had an easy time losing teeth. Hopefully the same goes for Araina. You have a good weekend too Karen.

Hmm. My comment didn’t post. Well, again I will say, congratulations on that little right of passage. Nothing cuter than when those first teeth fall out. Remind her that now she will be able to spit water through there. Great bathtub fun!

Congrats to the brave girl! When I was little, I absolutely refused to wiggle them and basically I let them go until they fell out!! I still can’t stomach watching my kids wiggle theirs, so brave. . .

What an exciting time! It really is such an important milestone.
Rainer started losing his milk teeth this past year and I am so amazed at how much he has matured since then. Ahhhh, to see them grow is such a gift. Many blessings your way mama.

hooray! They do look different though, as soon as they lose the teeth!

  21. February 5, 2010

Yeah, I could never do that either. I can hardly read about it. Fortunately Chloe is super good at it and has been brave enough to do it herself. I was just the other day realizing that our littlest one may be having a loose tooth soon!
Araina does seem to be having more mature thoughts.

I heard Araina’s toothfairy is very sweet and leaves her special treasures too! Erik wants to know if Dave put on a tu-tu and tights and little shiny wings? (Erik told me not to write this..but then I told him what Dave called me and he changed his mind :)

    • February 5, 2010

HA! Just a picture in my mind of Dave like that is hilarious! He didn’t call you the devil, he looked at the phone like the devil was calling. These poor boys that have to put up with the three of us! Love ya!
