highlights of our day
Playing with water and oil and counting how many beads it takes until they break through the oil layer and into the water. It took A LOT!
Araina writing and illustrating “My Book to Fairyland” on special paper dyed by pokeweed berries. The second page says- The Sweet Fairy is a uncommon fairy found in stinky sweets, it loves to trick people.
Fauna’s sewing class. She is making flannel pajama pants; she fell in love with the VWs and the colors in this fabric-

We spent time in the kitchen making honey and cinnamon gala apples. Slowly cooked until soft and warm!
We also made cornbread. It tasted great with our leftover chili from yesterday.
We also had a trip to the library and bought some warm and cozy boots for the little ladies. Now it’s time to tidy up, showers and reading until lights out (then after the ladies are in bed I will be sewing and watching old movies on TCM).

That looks beautiful, I really need to get around to doing oil and water with Rebecca.
“a uncommon fairy found in stinky sweets” I LOVE IT!
My girls love to make books too, but we’ve never done the paper.
you always have such great ideas!
Looks like a fun day! Those apples are really making my mouth water!
Enjoy your day!
Suzy
Oh what a lovely day!!
Such sweet writings and a sewing class, count me in!!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, D
You all are so industrious and productive! What a wonderful day.
Sounds like a lovely time to me! I love the VWs too! And the fairy drawings are so cute! It’s such a wonderful time of year, isn’t it?!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Lisa
Do you know why I LOVE coming here so much? Because on our most uninspired homeschool days, I *always* find something new and fun to do! Happy thanksgiving:)
Waterand food coloring is one of my kids favorite activities. They love to see how the food coloring swirls around and spiderlegs out. And when you add oil, it adds a whole other layer of interesting. I was just thinking of this yesterday!
Really is a beatiful mix and always brightens a day!
Are you sure Araina isn’t talking about herself?
HA! Mom said the exact same thing! Araina laughed at that.
Awww…. Araina’s fairy book melted my heart. How sweet!
Your oil/water experiment made me remember this activity I did with my girls – http://unprocessedfamily.blogspot.com/2008/04/making-waves.html – so I had to go look it up. I can’t believe how young they look!
Sounds like a lovely day! Wish I could watch movies and sew tonight…
The apples look yummy! By the way, we did do some pokeberry dyeing after you suggested it. The silks turned a lovely tan/peach/pink color.
i love araina’s book and fauna’s sewing!

What a lovely day! I want to read more of Araina’s book. I’m intrigued! The fabric that Fauna chose for her jammie pants looks so cozy…can’t wait to see those, too.
What a day! Good for all of you. I’m finishing up my Christmas gift sewing as the people they are for arrive tomorrow evening. Happy Thanksgiving.
what a lovely and very productive day – the best kind.
Your day sounds so very wonderful and connected and productive…. Thanks for the inspiration once again
I loved hearing about your day! I love it all! Tell Ariana that her book is amazing! And Fauna’s pj pant fabric looks so warm and cozy. Perfect.
The oil and water activity looks very interesting.
It’s very simple Frey, put in water, add the oil, add food coloring (which is fun to watch sink through the oil into the water), then add glitter and beads one by one.
Looks like you had a wonderful day Lisa! Those apples look yummy! Can’t wait to see what you are sewing!
That’s a good, full day!
I like Araina’s illustrations and writing very much and that fabric is too cute
Is it too late to vote for you as best homeschooling blogger? I just noticed it and now can’t find where to go….Beth
