highlights of today
Thought I’d share the highlights of our day.
Araina LOVES making clothespin people! I know this is not a new idea to the blog world, but to Araina this is pure bliss!
She always includes socks for their feet! I missed photographing the “guy with the glasses,” he is the best! Maybe next time.
While Araina was creating people, Fauna was creating secret potions. She had dried herbs and bottles full of weird stuff all over the place. She is writing her concoctions down in her pokeberry dyed journal. I love the marble used as a lid! (photo taken by Fauna)
We also made peppermint herbal candy today. Boy, was that a challenge! Turned out to be an interesting science lesson for us! I’ll post how we made these soon.
Fauna also did some blogging today and published a post. You can visit her blog here at 3 Black Inkspots, she loves comments.

what a lovely family she made
Lisa, love this post. I know I say it almost everytime I comment, but the childhood you’re creating for your daughters is so awesome. Lucky girls. : ) They will grow up to be just like their Mama!
They may not be new, but boy they are cute! I’d love to see the guy with the glasses.
We have LOTS of little people with glasses too! My husband and I both wear them, so I guess that influences them!
Love the ideas on your blog, and I am so happy to have found it!

I know, how crazy is that? I have gotten a lot of hits from her site!
Looks like Ricola, but I wonder if you could pour it into molds to get more uniformed size pieces.
I LOVE those clothespin people! It may not be a new idea, but it’s a new idea to me. My daughter’s going to love this. Thanks!
Im interested about herbal pepermint treats. Do they involve chocolate? I can’t tell from the pic.
I’ve actually never seen a child draw the clothespin person before–I’ve always seen them dressed up with cloth scraps and yarn hair, etc., and that’s why I’ve never wanted to make them with the girls, because I hated the idea of messing up my perfectly useful clothespins!
But drawing on the clothespins is perfect! You could actually seal that, I bet, and STILL use the clothespins. One of my goals for next spring is to craft a child-sized clothesline underneath my clotheslines, and if I can figure that out, we will DEF use these clothespin people for it.
I’m going to have to find some clothespins like that for Miah.
My daughter has turned our bathroom into her own personal laboratory. Interesting to know that she is not alone in her quest for the perfect potion. . .
When Helen was around 8/9 she loved making potions. We had an old dark room in our cellar and they turned it into a potion room. They’d wear capes and head down there with all sorts of stuff. They collected bottles at every yard sale and had a blast.
Funny, because Fauna is 8! I remember doing the same thing as a child around that age. Love the capes in the dark room….would really add atmosphere!
Princess wants to make some clothespin people now! I guess we’ll be heading to the dollar store tomorrow. Fun idea!
Where do you get those type of clothespins? I haven’t seen those in a LONG time…hmmm….looks like you had a very FUN day!
I think we found them at the dollar store. WE’ve had them for a while, she just dug them out of the art cabinet.
what a lovely, creative day you had! we used to make clothes peg angels when my dd was little.
What a wonderful day! The clothes pin people are just adorable, and the peppermint candy looks delicious. I wonder what kind of spells Fauna will cast with her secret potions?
HOpefully only good ones!
