ladybugs and poems
We were harvesting herbs the other day and found ladybugs, ants, yellow jackets and swallowtail caterpillars all over the fennel! Here is a little dedication to the ladybugs!
Ladybugs are in my yard
Just look at them devour
Those pesky aphids on the leaves
Of all my pretty flowers!
Never hurt a ladybug
We need them in the garden
Ladybugs help flowers grow
So we must give them pardon!

The Ladybug’s a beetle.
It’s small, like a pea.
Its’ color is a bright red
With lots of spots to see.Although the name is “Ladybug”,
Some Ladybugs are men!
So why don’t we call them “gentleman bugs”
Every now and then?

With a butterfly kiss,
And a ladybug hug,
Sleep tight little one,
Like a bug in a rug.

How brave a ladybug must be,
Each drop of rain is as big as she,
Can you imagine what you’d do,
If raindrops fell as big as you?

We love ladybugs, what a beautiful post
Oh so good for the garden!! maybe sometimes not the potato plants but such a good sign to have ladybugs in the garden. They make me very happy!
My favorite sort of days (well… I have a few different kinds of favorite days, so one of them) is getting far and deep down into something and making discoveries like this. We miss so much by walking by or assuming we know what’s going on… when really there are discoveries of beauty and magic to be had if only we’ll look.
Oh my gosh, those pictures are so cool!! I love them.
Fabulous poems, and pictures! That yellow one is really pretty…haven’t seen one like that before. We mentioned your blog on our blog this week, as we finally had ripe pokeberries to make ink out of! Thank you, Lisa, for the pokeberry inspiration in one of your earlier blog posts.
Lisa, that photo of the caterpillar and the ladybug is just gorgeous!
