vintage paper dolls
My sister Katrina made these paper dolls for our sister Robin about 25 years ago. It is a set of our family from when we were kids! Katrina (12 years old at the time) was inspired by a Little House on the Prairie set that she owned and 6yo Robin borrowed all the time. Katrina decided making Robin her own set would be the perfect way to make a sick little girl feel better (and keep her grubby fingers off the Little House on the Prairie set).
I scanned them into the computer and copied them for the Little Ladies! They love them and are having a ball pretending how they believe my sisters and I were when we were little. I told them to make some of themselves, a grown up version of me, and Dave to add to the collection; but they seem to be more interested in making fairy paper dolls instead (which they are doing right now). Perhaps tomorrow we will make some of the characters from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. That would be a fun way to recreate the story! Kudos to Robin for keeping them safe for such a long period of time; I don’t know how she was able to manage that!

LOVE!!! I’ve just been starting to think about doing people paper dolls with outfits and stuff with the girls–they’re still brutally hard on on things like that, though, so I heart your idea about scanning and copying them first.
BTW, if the kiddos like paper dolls, have you guys used the FormWild CDs? 3D paper dolls of all kinds of animals, any size you want them. We get ours from the public library, and they’re so fun, because any time the girls are into some kind of animal–fish, dinosaurs, farm animals–there’s seriously a FormWild CD for it.
Okay, and I DO NOT work for them. Swear.
That is so awesome that she kept them! And so cool that you can scan them today.
These paper dolls are so sweet! A real treasure.
I love the pictures on your blog. What camera are you using?
I never heard about using clover as a tea or eating it. Is any kind of clover edible?
My fingers are not grubby…I just wanted everything you guys had
These are just precious!
They are just so precious, you should frame them all. We can see that creativity runs in the veins of this family.
What a treasure to share with your girls!
What a difference between girls and boys, Rion would never have kept them in such great shape! Adam, my husband probably would have (engineer).
I want to see the girls dolls!
Love these! So much!! Such a treasure.
Maddie loves my victorian ones.
Trev would be interested in the jackass mask from Midsummer’s.
He’d get a hoot out of that, I’m sure.
Those are great! What a wonderful keepsake to share with your girls.
Not sure how I feel about “Vintage.” Dad’s expression cracks me up!
oooh that is so lovely
and what a great activity
Beautiful and how nice that you still have them!
My stepson does not play with imagination.
But I see that my daughter has great imagination
Enjoy your week!!
I loved paper dolls. These ones are so well made!
My heart just melted. Seriously.
Love that Robin is bringing back some great memories from your childhood. Those paper dolls are just wonderful! Can’t wait to see the fairy dolls the girls are making. You are such a fun Mom! Thanks for sharing with us. xxoo
Oh, what a TREASURE!
