Photo Editing
What you see is what you get when it comes to my photos. I am a realist and I have never edited a single photo that I have shared on this site….until today. I like the challenge of using the natural light to enhance my photos, not a computer generated program. I had no idea how much fun it is to play with your photos until Dawn, Renaissance Mama, posted about the site Picnik. I was shocked with all the gadgets and buttons you could use to sharpen, crop, color, erase and frame your photos using this site. Now I don’t know if I will really use it because more time would be involved and right now I’m trying to limit my blogging time. However, once in a while I might play like I did tonight……..
I added a matte finish and cropped this photo of Araina reading in our bay window. I also love the polaroid frame.
I cropped and rounded the edges on this one. I was very happy with the original natural lighting and didn’t want to change anything else.
This is a 1960′s effect that I’ve been seeing lately on some blogs. I love the vintage twist it gives to the photo.
So here is a way to change your photos a bit without a fancy camera. Go to Picnik and simply upload a photo; oh, I almost forgot to tell you, it’s FREE (with payment option to upgrade)!!!!!!

Lisa,
I so love your photos! You know, since my diagnosis I’ve decided that although my family absolutely LOVES our house, we do not love where it is located (in town). Whenever I see your photos I think, Oh! I want a field. I want milkweed. I want more nature–not just “in town” nature. Michael & I are seriously thinking about moving…we can’t really afford to right now but we’re discussing it.
Keep posting your beautiful photos so I have the inspiration to get outta town!!!
Oh & thank you…I love your comments & can’t wait to see my pink ribbon. And thank you, thank you for thinking of Benjamin. You are such a dear friend.

I’m a newcomer here, having been led to your weblog by Holistic Mama. It’s beautiful! As are your photographs without any unnecessary untouching. You clearly have a gift for the light.
Fun! I’ve thought about getting photoshop because I’ve seen some really neat things done with pictures but I’m not so sure I’m wanting to learn how to use a new program! I love what you did here.
Picnik is a great tool to have! I love to play with my pictures.
Have you heard of Photoscape, though?
It is available for free from cnet (also known as ‘Downloads.com’) and once you download it, it stays on your computer. It doesn’t seem to have taken up much memory, or made my computer run any slower. I absolutely LOVE it. It has a ‘batch editor’ where I can resize all my pictures at once, and the regular editor has so many options for editing your photos. They are called ‘filters’, and have many of the ones that Picnik has, and many more.
Those people should pay me for how often I tell people that I love Photoscape! haha! If you are ever looking for a good program, I always recommend them!
Bravo Lisa! Araina looks so sweet.
Wow, your photos always look amazing, but these have even more “lisa” in them!
Picnik is aptly named ~ it’s fun!
I really like the polaroid effect
I love picnik! But I agree with you 100%, I prefer the challenge of getting things just right when I take my photos.
Oh, if only I had the time…I could spend hours, no, days editing photos. I used to be a scrapbooker, but since Princess came along I’ve been busy with other things.
Picnik is lovely, I love the polaroid look
Is that what a 60s’ photo looks like, beautiful, thanks for unravelling this mystery for me, I was wondering how to do that
Blessings
Linda
What fun! I’ll have to head right on over there.
Lisa, the photos look great! Dawn also inspired me to play around with Picnik-I had never heard of it before. It does take some time but I used it to change my header. Have fun with it!
I use my corner rounder to crop all of my photos like this in my scrapbooks!!
I love the “old school” look : )
This website will be tons of fun too, thanks for sharing.
