WIP- owl potholder and breast cancer ribbon felty

For Work In Progress Wednesday, I thought I’d share two of my projects that fill my evening creative time right now. First is this owl hot pad holder. I know the button eyes might interfere with the pans a bit so I might have to remove them, but I love the look of button eyes! My  mom told me to leave them because she thinks he is too cute to use anyway! But we are in desperate need of pot holders and I really intend to use him!

I’m also working on a pink breast cancer felty for a dear blogger friend. I haven’t quite decided how I will tack this one down, it’s in my “talk to me” stage of creating. This will be an emotional felty to sew; every stitch will have positive thoughts and energy for my lovely friend. Just recently I made a lucky ladybug felty for my sister’s coworker whose 15yo son was in the hospital with cancer; it was amazing to me how much emotion was involved in that felty. I’m a big believer that the artist’s energy is put into each item created by them and boy did that ladybug have a lot of energy tied to it! The boy is doing very well now, thank goodness! I really hope I can make my friend’s pink ribbon felty to her expectations; regardless, it will be  full of positive energy!

I love the sentiments you have shared about handmade, that is exactly why I make or buy handmade toys for my children because of the love poured forth and the positive energy that truly is felt in each toy. Blessings to you as you make this gift and also of course to your friend who will receive it, may she feel your love through this! The potholder is too sweet : )

Beautiful. I love the owl. And of course keep the eyes. The pink ribbon is near and dear to my heart – thank you for reminding me that we can use our art to work through the pain.
