Sweet Anticipation
2009 August 18
Warm summer evenings are made for admiring nature’s sweet anticipation.

And the not so sweet, but kinda cool moments! We watched this spider spin, catch, kill and eat. Fauna said, “Cool!” Araina said, “Mommy, why didn’t you save the cabbage white?” as tears streamed down her face.

And a little teaser….what do you get with acorn caps and flowers? More sweet anticipation to share for another day. Have to wait for the glue to dry.

Enjoy your summer evening (or winter to those in the South).

Oh wow Lisa that is truly beautiful…nature is amazing as always.
And your acorn caps…well that is so intriguing!!
lovely
the circle of life always is thought provoking.
Lisa-
Love , love love the new site! Your photos really do seem to POP! (btw, what kind of lense are you using? Love the focus)
That acorn teaser is killing me, can’t wait to see what you’re up to!
We raised several swallowtail butterflies a couple of years ago (http://commonsensehomesteading.blogspot.com/2009/06/raising-butterflies.html). The boys got a big kick out of it (mom, too). I haven’t seen as many around this year, but the summer has been cold and dry, overall.
such a great capture. mother nature is simply awesome!
very coolwe have some spiders that hang ont he windo outsidemy front door and we can see them eating whatever it is that they have caught. They are very interesting.
Can’t wait to see your acorns.
Very cool teaser phot0…. Hmmm… you’ve got me wondering
Oh, please tell us more about the flower-glue-idea!
Today’s photos are so extrange. But also interesting.
We have so many different spiders hear that I went and found a great site to learn more about them, http://www.spiderzrule.com/. They are great about IDing spiders. Did you know that the black widow is not allwase black. This is great site for bugs, Rion loves it. He will spend allot of time looking at all the cool bugs. http://bugguide.net/node/view/15740
We like to photograph them and then put the pic on the computer so we can blow it up and look at all the parts up close with out touching it…much safer.
we are battling the circle of life here, but i must say my girls are much better at it then i was at their ages.
birth, growth, death, birth, growth, death.
Shady, yes, an eastern black swallowtail caterpillar on parlsey. It will emerge anytime now!
We are very into spiders at the moment since we are deep into learning about them.
Is that chrysalis on parsley?
Nicole, I know that feeling well. I force myself to admire them, trying very hard to overcome the fear. It’s funny, I’ll name them and it makes me feel a little better about them. Silly!
Keith, it’s the Vigilance template found at Wordpress.com. Go to the WP.com template page and you should be able to find it. It kills me when the caterpillars make a chyrsalis on the most unnatural places!
Very cool picture of the chrysalis! I hope to have one by tomorrow sometime. One of my BST caterpillars attached itself to the top of the enclosure that I built for them.
As for the move, did you design your theme or use one already created? I am working on one for my wife and didn’t know if the theme author had any tips
.
Oh I can’t wait to see! I have a weird thing with spiders.. i try to like them, i really do! the creep me out though, maybe i need to see someone about my spider fear :p
