Rite of Passage
2009 August 16

Araina told me last week that she wanted to get her ears pierced. She did not have any second thoughts, not even when we told her that it would hurt a little bit. She picked little cubic zirconia stars, sat on the stool and stayed real still. She didn’t flinch or change her mind or even say a word. I admire her bravery and the fact that when this little gal makes up her mind she sticks to it!

My daughter got her ears pierced 4 weeks ago. She had wanted to for a year, but I wanted it to mark the transition to ‘proper school’, that is 2.nd grade in waldorf school. That’s when I got mine pierced too, when I was seven and was going to start school. It’s a nice way to mark a transition, I think.
Aww… she just keeps getting prettier and prettier
Cyan did that at four years old. In fact, she picked those exact earings and what she said was “You said it was going to hurt… That didn’t hurt!” lol… beautiful girl, beautiful earings.

Oh Lisa, I love it over here. And I could get the link to the calendula oil no problem so you can disregard the e-mail I sent you asking for it.
Yay for a new blog space!
i allready commented on the old blog addy but just wanted to pop on here to save your new one
yay!
OK, I am on board with the new blog address.
My almost three year old asks every so often to get her ears pierced like mine. My original answer was when you are ten. Now I am not so sure. She is still too young to understand it will hurt, ANd too young to take care of them without help. So, Wait we shall. But they look so cute with little earrings son’t they?
Hi! I follow you in your new blog. I like so much your things!
Good Luck with your new blog!
Yay for her!!
Lisa, we finally got into town tonight…do you still want to try to get together to do something science-y? We should be here a couple days. Natalie has a bday gift for Fauna too!
Wow! Pierced ears…how exciting. Definitely a rite of passage.
P.S. Love the new site!
