Keeping the Goblins Away

2009 April 2
by 5 Orange Potatoes

Did you know that lining mushrooms up along an outdoor windowsill will keep the goblins away? This is true, according to Fauna and her friend Natalie.

I guess you need to dip them into sand first. ;)

I did not know this. However, I do know that I need to clean and repaint that windowsill! Thanks for protecting our house ladies.

Crunchy, I’m not the best organizer….we have a lot of bookshelves which are stuffed full of binders and books. Bookshelves are the way for us! I also carry a notebook with me everywhere I go to jot down ideas and inspirations. My mind has so much going on that I must write ideas down at the time or I will lose them!

How sweet! I never knew this goblin prevention method. Must get some mushrooms and find some sand!

What a darling idea, I do need some help with pesky goblins. I think they have been invading my home. Dipping the mushrooms in sand is very clever, does it matter what kind of mushroom you use. ; )
I also wanted to thank you Lisa for the nice comments you have shared on my blog. I have done the drawings and I have been thinking it would be so fun to make patterns for you if you would like : ) You can use any of my drawings that I have down for the planning pages. I think that they could be enlarged to the size you would need. It would be so fun to see the little birdy as a felty : )

Thanks you kind ladies for this nugget of useful information. You see my boy often has trouble sleeping and I think this may help him feel safer and able to nod off to dreamland.. :0)

Too cute about the goblin barrier! I will have to remember that when we study goblins for Care of Magical Creatures.

Question for you, and maybe you’ve answered this before, but do how do you keep all your ideas and materials organized? We have a small house, no homeschooling room, and I need some inspiration!

    What smart girls!!! It’s true!

Now in the movie The Spiderwick Chronicles, the house is protected by a protective ring of toadstools that surrounds the entire house… keeps the goblins from entering the ring.
Great movie, but might be a bit too scary for your girls just yet. We just watched again a few days ago. Noah had made a viewing stone from clay last year. It helps humans see goblins in the woods:)
The sand is a interesting concept!

Aren’t children amazing? When left alone to their own devices and thoughts they come up with the most incredible (and well thought out) ideas.

    Very cute. :)

I love the sand part… I do understand how the goblins would NEVER touch a mushroom dusted with sand, so does make sense when you think about it.
